Untuk mencari kata(-kata) yang menjadi rujukan dari suatu kata dalam teks, perhatikan kata atau kalimat di sekitar kata yang ditanyakan tersebut. Kata 'that' merupakan kata ganti tunggal, maka perhatikan kata benda tunggal di depan kata 'that' yang sesuai dengan konteks. Dari kalimat pertama, dapat ditentukan bahwa kata 'that' merujuk pada 'pressure', karena, dalam teks, disimpulkan bahwa tekanan di pusat suatu tornado jauh lebih rendah daripada tekanan udara di sekitar tornado.
