Untuk membuat sebuah alasan (reason) atas sebuah kejadian (event) kita harus menggunakan sebuah Kata Penghubung (Conjunction). Dalam pertanyaan di atas kata yang cocok digunakan adalah “because”.

Kata Penghubung (Conjunction) adalah sebuah kata yang menghubungkan dua frasa/klausa menjadi satu kalimat yang mudah dimengerti dan enak dibaca. Contoh lain Conjunction: and, or, after, but, yet, so, both, either, neither, before, dan sebagainya.

Jenis-jenis Conjunction:

1.Compound Conjuction - Adalah kata yang menghubungkan subject dengan subject, verb dengan verb, object dengan object, adverb dengan adverb, adjective dengan adjective, dsb. Compound Conjunction terdiri dari dua macam:

       a.  Coordinate Conjunction

                Contoh:

                - Only me and him are allowed inside.

                - John feels tired so he takes a rest.

                - Both my friend and I are told to leave the house.

        b.  Corelative Conjunction

                Contoh:

                - Not only my mother but also my father is having a flu.

                - Neither the mother nor the father has seen the child.

2. Complex Conjunction – Adalah kata sambung yang menghubungkan sebuah induk kalimat (main clause) dengan sebuah anak kalimat (subordinate clause) yang membentuk sebuah kalimat lengkap. Contoh Complex Conjunction: when, while, when, which, what, where, that, if, after, before, till, until, because, although, dsb. Contoh:

       Mary still go to her office although she does not feel well.

       I always brush my teeth before I go to sleep at night.
