People say that derivation is an instantaneous rate of change but the term instantaneous means that it only happens at one time so it's quite an oxymoron. I'd rather define derivation as a (approximation of a) constant for the rate of change of a function at one point whilst integral is simply a method to find the area of a function. (yes you guessed right, for linear functions we can just simply use the area method). Both of these are very useful so it's kinda important for you to understand it
