EXPLANATION

Reported speech/indirect speech digunakan ketika informasi pengucap pertama diberitakan ulang kepada orang lain tanpa mengubah informasi yang tersirat didalamnya.

Hal² yang diperhatikandalam merubahdirect speech ke reported speech :

1) Memperhatikan jenis kata pengiringnya [reporting verb].

Jika menggunakan "says, has said, will say", noun clause verb tidak mengalami pergeseran tenses.

Sebaliknya, jika reporting verb-nya berupa "said, told, asked, warned", noun clause verb mengalami backshift.

2) Cermati bentuk kalimatnya apakah berupa afirmasi, tanya dan imperatif [saran, nasihat, larangan, perintah].

3) Pahami sudut pandangnya, posisi si pewarta.

4) Tanda petik ganda ditiadakan.

Contoh :

He said "I have finished my homework for an hour"

➡ He said (that) he had finished his homework for an hour.

Kalimat langsung di atas mengalami pergeseran tenses dari present perfect ke past perfect dikarenakan kata pengiring past "said."
Begitu juga dengan pronomina persona orang pertama berubah menjadi pronomina orang ketiga, disesuaikan siapa pengucap wartanya.
