Chris Hansen works (work) in alaska in the winter. He (1) has a job on a crab boat. He (2) fishes for crabs on October and January. Chris and the other fishermen (3) drop heavy crab pots in the ocean and (4) pulls them back onto the boat a day later. Chris does not like his job because it is quite dangerous challenging to work on the ocean. Even in bad wheater, the work does not stop. The days are very short in the winter. The sun (5) rises around 10:00 AM and it goes down around 04:00 PM.

Descriptive text adalah teks yang menceritakan tentang suatu hal seperti tempat, hewan, kejadian, dan orang. Deskriptif teks menggunakan simple present tense. Simple present tense adalah kalimat yang mempunyai fungsi untuk mengekspresikan sebuah fakta dan kebiasaan (dilakukan berulang-ulang dalam jangka waktu yang lama). Simple present tense menggunakan verb 1. Terdapat 2 jenis simple present yaitu Nominal dan verbal.

Simple Present Nominal

• (+) Subject + To be + Object = He is my father
• (-) Subject + To be + Not + Object = They are not my friends
• (?) To be + Subject + Object? = Is it a book?

Simple Present Verbal

• (+) Subject + V1(s/es) + Object = I walk with my pet
• (-) Subject + Do/Does + Not + V1 + Object = Hhe doesn't think about her
• (?) Do/Does + Subject + V1 + ? = Does he sing a song?
