Sukuhtemple candi sukuh is a primitive, strange and mysterious style temple. since it has the differences in mood and architecture comparing with the temples elsewhere in java. it dates from the 15th or 16th century and has a curious inca like look. built on the slope of mount lawu about 910 meters above the sea level. to get there, take public transportation leaving surakarta (36 kms away) or karanganyar for tawangmangu and stops over at karangpandan. from karangpandan, catches a minibus to candi sukuh. on market days, the minibus stops right side beside the temple but on the other days it needs a little walk to the site. going up further from the candi sukuh site, about 1.500 metres above sea level you can also visit candi cetho (built in 15th century). architecturally, it is similar to the sukuh temple. where is the temple built?
