One ordinary day, while I was walking down the stairs at school, some random guy who was chasing his friend hit me and I fell down chin first, the impact dislocated my jaw. I was rushed to the hospital where I was injected with a ton of numbing agent and was given a button to push to ask for more morphine to make me go sleepy. I had to undergo a jaw surgery which took about 3 to 5 hours, atleast that's what I was told, I was passed out the whole time. When I was able to discharge, I had a humongously swollen face and my mother did a great job trying to hold her laughter in the car because she thought I looked like I weighed 300 pounds. After the jaw surgery, I had to have my jaw clamped shut with braces, rubber splint and rubber bands for 2 months or so and as a result I had to go for a liquid diet for 4 to 6 months. It was quite a weird experience but I really enjoyed the amount of smoothies and soups my mother made. However because of this I was always super hungry and I noticeably look thinner due to my lack of calorie intake. The worst part was the itching that happens as the nerves heal because it would last for a while and you can't make that feeling go away. I was gradually able to chew soft foods like banana and bread and after sometime I was finally able to eat normally. So in conclusion, the jaw surgery was definitely worth the cost and pain as I seemed to have a more defined chin now.
