Task 1 Read the text and answer the questions!Earth is our planet. It is a huge ball of rock that travels in space around the Sun. It also slowly spins around. At any one moment, only half of Earth faces the Sun. The side facing the Sun has day and the other side has night. It takes 24 hours for Earth to spin around once. It takes Earth one year, or about 365 days or go once around the Sun. Earth's orbit the path it follows around the sun is close to the shape of the circle. If you travelled into space and looked down the Earth, what would you see? Water, land, and cloud. Water covers almost three fourths of the plain. The rest is covered by land. Clouds are parts of the atmosphere, a thin blanket of air surrounding Earth. The air helps keep Earth warm, gives us oxygen to breath, and blocks harmful rays from the sun. Earth is made of three layers. In the centre is the core, containing an inner core of solid iron and an outer core of liquid iron. The mantle is the middle layer of Earth made of soft rock. The crust forms the rocky outer layer of Earth.
