Simple past tense adalah kalimat untuk menyatakan peristiwa yang terjadi pada masa lalu tanpa keterangan waktu mutlak.

kalimat nominal:

• (+) subject + was/were + O/C

• (?) was/were + subject + O/C + ?

ELUCIDATION

Pada soal, diminta untuk mengubah kalimat berpola past tense ke bentuk kalimat negatif.

Untuk mengubah kalimat (verbal) ke kalimat negatif, maka yang mesti dilakukan adalah meletakkan did + not + verb 1 setelah subjek kalimat.

contoh:

My father told me about the accident last night.

• letakkan did + not + verb 1 setelah subjek ‘my father’.
• bentuk verb 1 dari toldadalahtell.

» My father didn't tell me about the accident last night.

Untuk mengubah kalimat (nominal) ke kalimat negatif, maka yang mesti dilakukan adalah meletakkan notsetelahwas/were.

contoh:

We were family.

• beri ‘not’ setelah were.

» We weren't family.
