• Louis Pateur was born in Dole on December 27, 1822. He was a French chemist and biologist. In 1874, he earned his doctorate at the Ecole Normale in Paris on physics and chemistry.

Louis Pasteur also contributed so much to public sanitation. He developed the science of microbiology, invented the process of pasteurization, and developed vaccines for several diseases, including rabies.
