Difference:

1. hope is a word that shows something that is still possible

wish is a word that express hope for something that is almost impossible to happen.

2. hope in past tense is for something that has happened in the past. however, we "hoping" for it right now because we don't know whether that wish has come true or not.

wish in past tense it means showing a regret for something that might have happened, but in the end it didn't happen and can't change it because it has passed.

3. example for hope in present tense: I hope i see you at dinner tonight.

example for wish in present tense: i wish i had more money
