Reported Speech, dalam bahasa Indonesia artinya adalah kalimat tidak langsung. Perubahan kalimat dari Direct Speech menjadi Reported Speech memiliki beberapa aturan. Contohnya:

1) present tense

She said, "She is a dancer."

She said (that) She was a dancer.

Jika kalimat ini berbentuk kebenaran umum, maka akan lebih sesuai  

She said (that) She is a dancer.

2) past tense

my mother said, "You brother did his homework last night."

my mother said (that) my brother had done his homework previous night.

3) Present Perfect Tense

He asked me,"have you been to spain?"

He asked me if I had been to spain.
