PEMBAHASAN

Passive voice adalah kalimat yang dibuat dengan mengubah :

• Objectdi kalimat aktif menjadisubject di kalimat pasif.
• Subjectdi kalimat aktif menjadiby (agent) di kalimat pasif.

Ketika mengubah kalimat aktif menjadi pasif, maka ada beberapa hal yang harus di perhatikan, seperti :

1. Penggunaan tenses
2. Penggunaan pronoun
3. Mengamati mana object

Penggunaan tenses

Hal ini penting di lakukan karena jenis tenses yang digunakan pada kalimat aktif dan pasif harus sama. Contoh :

Active : Rina cooks fried rice.

Passive : Fried rice is cooked by Rina.

Karena kalimat aktifnya menggunakan rumus simple present, maka kalimat pasifnya juga harus menggunakan simple present.

Penggunaan pronoun

Jika subject nya menggunakan pronoun subject (kata ganti) seperti I/you/they/we/she/he/it, maka di kalimat pasifnya berubah menjadi pronoun object. Berikut ini perubahannya :

Subject => Object

I => Me

You => You

They => Them

We => Us

She => Her

He => Him

It => It

Contoh :

Active : She cooks fried rice.

Passive : Fried rice is cooked by her.

Mengamati object

Dalam mengubah kalimat aktif menjadi pasif, maka kita harus bisa mengetahui mana object dari kalimat tersebut. Karena jika kalimat nya tidak memiliki object, maka kalimat aktif tersebut tidak bisa di ubah ke bentuk pasif.

Contoh :

Active : They sleep at 8 p.m

Passive : Tidak bisa berubah ke pasif karena setelah kata kerja "sleep" tidak ada object, melainkan langsung keterangan waktu "at 8 p.m"

Untuk ke-5 soal di atas, ada dua jenis tenses yang digunakan yaitu :

• Simple past

Active : S + V2 + O

• The travel agent advertised the package.

Passive : S + To be (was/were) + V3 + by...

• The package was advertised by the travel agent.
