Simple present adalah tenses yang menjelaskan suatu kegiatan pada masa sekarang. Selain itu, tenses ini juga berfungsi menjelaskan suatu kebenaran umum.
Simple present terbagi menjadi 2, yaitu :
- Simple present verbal, dimana di dalamnya terdapat kata kerja.
- Simple present nominal, dimana di dalamnya setelah subject ada to be kemudian kalimat pelengkap yang berupa adjective, noun, adverb, profession.

(-) S + Do/does + not + V1 + O
(?) Do/does + S + V1 + O
- Untuk subject I/you/they/we/plural subject, kata kerja pada kalimat positif (+) hanya menggunakan verb-1 tanpa tambahan s/es.
- Untuk subject she/he/it/nama orang/benda tunggal, kata kerja pada kalimat positif menggunakan verb-1 dengan di tambahkan s/es.
