Yes, I have once written a diary on my smartphone when I was in middle school, the purpose was just to keep track of the days I went through. I suppose people write diaries because they also want to cherish some of their moments in life in the form of text or you can write in a book (old fashioned way). Like walking on a sunny day to visiting your grandmother's funeral, and even moments of embarresment. Good and bad times are what make life so interesting. Therefore, diaries are usually kept as a secret and the only person knowing what is inside your diary is yourself.
