Active and Passive Voice

Bagaimana mengubah kalimat aktif menjadi kalimat pasif?? Bentuk dasar semua tenses yang diubah ke Passive Voice adalah BE + V3.

Contoh kalimat

--------------- ACTIVE ---------------> PASSIVE

PRESENT

• I paint the wall -----> The wall is painted by me
• I am painting the wall -----> The wall is being painted by me
• I have painted the wall -----> The wall has been painted by me
• I have been painting the wall -----> The wall has been being  painted by me

PAST

• A thief stole my wallet -----> My wallet was stolen by a thief
• A thief was stealing my wallet -----> My wallet was being stolen by a thief
• A thief had stolen my wallet -----> My wallet had been stolen by a thief
• The policehad been watchinga fugitive -----> A fugitive had been being watched by the police.

FUTURE

• He will drive the car -----> The car will be driven by him
• He will be driving the car -----> The car will be being driven by him
• He will have driven the car -----> The car will have been driven by him
• He will have been driving the car -----> The car will have been being driven by him

Ingat!! Pelaku atau subjek dari kalimat pasif bisa dihilangkan.

5. They often read e-mails.  ---> E-mails are often read by them.

6. Hilman lost his keys yesterday.  ---> Hilman's keys were lost yesterday.

PASSIVE ---> Active

2. Lots of houses were destroyed.  ---> The flood destroyed lots of houses.

3. Bingo is played in Britain.  ---> People in Britain plays Bingo.

7. French is spoken in Nigeria.  ---> People in Nigeria speaks French.

8. A novel was written. ---> Someone wrote a novel.

9. These cars are produced in Italy.  ---> A company in Italy produces these cars.

10. The bus driver was hurt.  ---> The accidenthurtthe bus driver.
