J. K. Rowling is an internationally notable writer who was born on July 31, 1965,in England. She is the woman who wrote the Harry Potter series. After the first book was successful, Rowling continued writing the stories a total of seven books in the series. All seven series of harry Potter books sold hundreds of millions of copies.In 1990, she graduated from Exeter University and moved to Portugal. Rowling met her love, a Portuguese journalist, Jorge Arantes, and got married. Jessica, their daughter, was born in in 1993. However, their marriage did not last long and ended in divorce. She had to work in order to make a living and raise her only daughter alone. While struggling to work and supporting Jessica all by herself, Rowling tried to write a book. After finishing the draft, she got a number of rejections. However, it did not stop her. Finally, she was able to sell her first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
In 1999, her first three books, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone , Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban were published. By the summer of 2000, she had successfully earned more than $400 million. When the next book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was launched in July 2000, the first printing reached 5,3 million copies.
