Jawaban:
Bandung is the capital of West Java Province. Why is it called the city of Bandung? There are several opinions regarding the origin of the name.
The name Bandung comes from the word "weir" or "dam". Once upon a time, the Citarum River was blocked by lava originating from Mount Tangkuban Perahu. As a result, the area between Padalarang and Cicalengka (± 30 kilometers) and the area between Mount Tangkuban Parahu to Soreang (± 50 kilometers) was flooded and became a large lake which became known as "Bandung Lake" or "Bandung Purba Lake".
According to research, Lake Bandung has gradually receded. In the former lake area, the Bandung regency government stood. So, historically the origin of the name Bandung comes from Lake Bandung.
Another opinion says that the word Bandung comes from the name of a water vehicle used by the Regent of Bandung, R.A. Wiranatakusumah II. The vehicle consists of two boats tied side by side called the Bandung boat. At that time, R.A. Wiranatakusumah II navigated Citarum in search of a new district seat to replace the old capital at Dayeuhkolot.
"Notes from the Folklore of Bandung: The origin of the name Bandung is Bandung is the venue for the Asia Africa Summit for the first time on April 18, 1955."
