ACTIVE VOICE ➔ PASSIVE VOICE

Pertama, ada dua istilah yang perlu kita ketahui terlebih dahulu terkait kalimat aktif dan pasif, yaitu agent dan patient.

  • Agent: pelaku aksi
  • Patient: penerima aksi

⇒ Pengertian

⁕ Active voice, atau kalimat aktif, adalah kalimat di mana subjeklah yang berperan sebagai agent terhadap patient. Contoh:

"I read a book."

Subjek I (aku) melakukan sebuah aksi read (membaca) terhadap patient a book (sebuah buku).

⁕ Passive voice, atau kalimat pasif, adalah kalimat di mana subjeklah yang berperan sebagai patient. Dalam kalimat pasif, biasanya agent tidak perlu disebutkan karena fokus kalimatnya adalah ke patient. Contoh:

"A book is read (by me)."

Subjek a book (sebuah buku) terkena aksi read (dibaca) oleh agent me (aku).

Note: Kalimat pasif umumnya berpola to be + V3.

  • S + is/am/are + being + V3 (passive)

3. Some strangers are calling Aulia now

⤷ Aulia is being called by some strangers now

Past Continuous

  • S + was/were + V-ing (active)
  • S + was/were + being + V3 (passive)

Simple Past

  • S + V2 (active)
  • S + was/were + V3 (passive)
