Rumus Simple Past Tense

Dalam menyusun kalimat simple past tense, rumusnya ialah:

S + Verb 2 + O

Dalam bentuk kalimat simple past tense, kata kerja yang dipakai merupakan bentuk kata kerja kedua. Ada dua jenis kata kerja, yaitu regular verb dan irregular verb.

Regular verb, dapat tambahkan -ed/-d dibelakang sesudah kata kerja bentuk pertama. Contoh:

Play – Played (Bermain)

Touch – Touched (Menyentuh)

Irregular verb , termasuk to be, bentuk kata kerja lampaunya V2  sangat berbeda. Contoh:

Get – Got (Mendapatkan)

Eat – ate (Makan)

Run – ran (Berlari)

Tetapi, ada sebagian irregular verb yang mempunyai bentuk kata kerja yang sama dengan bentuk kata kerja pertama. contoh:

Put – Put (Meletakkan)

Spread – Spread (Menyebarkan)

Cut – Cut (Memotong)
