3. They asked me when the ship arrive.

4. The teacher asked why I am late.

5. She told me that she does not like to eat mango and melon.

6. Uncle said that his son is listening to music.  

7. They said that they saw my boyfriend yesterday.

8. Father asked me whether I enjoyed the party last night.

9. She said that she has been waiting for an hour.

10. My mom said to me to throw my clothes to the washer.

Kalimat langsung atau direct speech adalah kalimat yang dikutip dari perkataan seseorang tanpa merubah kata-kata dan selalu dibubuhkan tanda kutip pada kalimatnya.

Kalimat tidak langsung atau indirect speech adalah kalimat yang merupakan penyampaian apa yang diucapkan seseorang tetapi di dalam kalimat tersebut terdapat perubahan kata-kata dan tidak mengubah maksud.

Kalimat langsung dan tidak langsung terbagi menjadi tiga, yakni pernyataan (statement), perintah (command), dan pertanyaan (question)

1. Pernyataan (statement), contohnya:

Direct speech: He told his friend, “I have a new car”

Indirect speech: He told his friend that he had a new car.

2. Perintah (command), contohnya:

Direct speech: He asked me, “Open the door!”

Indirect speech: He asked me to open the door.

3. Pertanyaan (question), contohnya:

Direct speech: That girl asked me, “Where do you live?”

Indirect speech: That girl asked me where I lived.
