"Question tags" atau pertanyaan penegas adalah sebuah statement atau pernyataan yang disambung dengan pertanyaan kecil di belakangnya. Question tags digunakan untuk menkonfirmasi atau memastikan tentang suatu hal.

Kalimat pernyataan dan pertanyaan penegas harus menggunakan pola tenses yang sama yang diambil dari Main Verb (kata kerja utama) nya. Jika kalimat pernyataan itu berbentuk positif maka pertanyaan penegasnya harus berbentuk negatif. Sebaliknya jika kalimat pernyataan itu berbentuk negatif maka pertanyaan penegasnya (Question tags) harus berbentuk positif

Pronoun atau kata ganti selalu digunakan dalam question tag

Untuk question tag dalam bentuk negatif kita selalu menggunakan singkatan dari auxiliarynya dan kata not. Misalnya won't, hasn't, didn't, dll
