Recount text adalah genre teks narasi yang pokok pembahasannya menceritakan kembali pengalaman/kisah bernilai yang terjadi di masa lalu.

Generic structure

1) Orientation

• Bagian awal paragraf, di mana berisi pengenalan siapa saja yang dilibatkan dalam teks beserta latar ceritanya.

2) Sequenced events

• Bagian paragraf lanjutan, di mana berisi runtutan peristiwa, dimulai dari awal hingga akhir.

3) Re-Orientation

• Bagian penutup paragraf, di mana berisi opini/kesimpulan si penulis. Bagian ini tidak berupa paragraf utuh melainkan hanya sepenggal kalimat yang biasanya menyatu/mengakhiri bagian paragraf sequenced event.
