1) ORIENTATION

In a place, there lived a beautiful princess named Dayang Sumbi. One day, while she was weaving, she lost one of the tools to weave. She was tired of searching and then she swore that those who found it. She would be married if a man and if a woman, she would be made an older sister.

Then… it turns out the one who found the princess’s weaver is a dog. So inevitably the princess must marry a dog named Tumang. Finally, they were blessed with boy and named Sangkuriang. The child does not know about his biological father.

3) COMPLICATION

After sangkuriang already had enough age, Dayang Sumbi asked Sangkuriang to hunt deer accompanied by Tumang, who was none other than his father. It turns out that when in the middle of the forest, Sangkuriang accidentally shot Tumang. Do not want to think long finally sangkuriang clean the tumang and bring him home as a result of his game.

Dayang Sumbi was very happy because her son got a game and he thought it was a deer. One day Dayang Sumbi asked where the Tumang was. With a sad face, Sangkuriang answered that what was eaten was the Tumang. Suddenly, Dayang Sumbi cried and shouted at Sangkuriang to the point that she told Sangkuriang to leave home.

After a few years later, Dayang Sumbi left her son, she met a handsome man. Dayang Sumbi liked it and vice versa with Sangkuriang. However, when they had known each other and loved each other, Dayang Sumbi learned that the man was none other than his biological child whom he had driven out of the house.

Dayang Sumbi was very confused, she did not know how to tell the man that she was his son (Sangkuriang). With a sad and happy heart she dares to say that “You are my son (Sangkuriang), I cannot possibly marry you”. With a disappointed heart Sangkuriang answered that he was not her child. Then, Dayang Sumbi thought how to prevent Sangkuriang from marrying her.

Dayang Sumbi loudly said “I ask you to stem the Citarum river to be made a lake and in that lake there must be a big boat, and I will give you time overnight to make it”. Without a doubt Sangkuriang accepted her request, because he thought he would easily make it with the help of the spirits he had.

4) RESOLUTION

That night, Dayang Sumbi prayed and got a hint. She spread boeh rarang (woven white cloth). He also insisted that the rooster crow when it was still night. The spirits were very frightened when they learned that dawn had arrived. They ran and disappeared in all directions. They abandoned their work of making unfinished lakes and boats.

Sangkuriang is very angry. He felt Dayang Sumbi had cheated him. He was very sure if the real dawn had not arrived. He felt that there was still time available for him to finish work. With high anger, Sangkuriang then broke down the dam in Sanghyang Tikoro. Citarum flow stoppers then thrown to the east which later transformed into Mount Manglayang.

The water that originally filled the lake then receded. It felt like the anger had not subsided. Sangkuriang then kicked the big boat that he had made to be far away and fell face down. The large boat transformed into a mountain which was then called Tangkuban Perahu mountain.

Sangkuriang’s anger has not subsided yet. He knew, all of that was actually a ploy from Dayang Sumbi to frustrate the marriage with him. With anger that continued to overflow, the handpipers were chased. The scared lady maid kept running to avoid until she finally disappeared on a hill. The hill was then transformed into a mountain Princess. While Sangkuriang who did not find Sunbi’s Dayang finally disappeared into the supernatural.

2) EVALUATION

One day Dayang Sumbi was quilting when suddenly, her quilt fell off from her house. Then she

 prayed to Gods, “if a man pick up my quilt, he will be my sister.” Then, a male dog pick it up. 

 For keeping her words, Dayang Sumbi married the dog and called him Tumang. Dayang Sumbi

 gave birth to a baby, named him Sangkuriang, but never told him who his father was.

No matter what happened always have to be a honest person. Because every time you lie, you will continue to lie, to cover up your lie.
