The Perfect Friend

1.    Today I found a friend
2.    Who knew everything I felt
3.    She knew my every weakness
4.    And the problems I have dealt.
6.    She understood my wonders
7.    And listened to my dreams,
8.    She listened to how I felt about life and love
9.    And knew what it all means.
11.    Not once did she interrupt me
12.    Or tell me I was wrong
13.    She understood what I was going through
14.    And promised she'd stay long.
16.    I reached out to this friend,
17.    To show her that I care
18.    To pull her close and let her know
19.    How much I need her there.
21.    I went to hold her hand
22.    To pull her a bit nearer
23.    And I realized this perfect friend I found
24.    Was nothing but a mirror

Poem (Puisi/Sajak) adalah sekumpulan kata-kata yang memuat berbagai ide yang diekspresikan dengan perasaan dan emosi tertentu dengan kata-kata yang dirangkai sedemikian rupa sehingga terdengar indah.

Poem berfungsi untuk berbagi pengalaman dan perasaan yang dialami oleh penulis.

Beberapa unsur penting dari sebuah Poem adalah:

• Bentuk (Form)

• Pembicaraan (Speaker)

• Bunyi (Sound)

• Perumpamaan (Imagery)

• Bahasa kiasan (Figurative language)

Poem terdiri dari :

• Rhyme (sajak): ucapan kata dengan ritme pengulangan kata yang mirip sehingga terdengar indah dan jenaka.
• Rhythm (irama): memiliki penekanan kata-kata pengulangan yang memiliki ritme tertentu sehingga enak didengar.
• Alliteration/Tongue twister (Bunyi yang unik): pengulangan yang terjadi pada huruf awal kata yang diucapkan dalam dua atu lebih kata dalam satu baris.
• Repetition (pengulangan): menggunakan kata kunci atau frasa yang sepanjang puisi.
• Figurative language (bahasa kiasan): penggunaan kata-kata yang di luar arti yang sebenarnya yang dapat menambah keindahan puisi seperti simile, personification, hyperbole, dan lain-lain.
