Put the words in the right order to be a good sentence!

a. to - usually - i - walk - car - go - sometimes - work by - i - but

=> I usually walk to work but sometimes I go by car

OR

=> I usually go to work by car but sometimes I walk.

b. are - garden - children - now - the - in - football - the - playing

=> The children are playing football in the garden now

c. she - and - groceries - days - bought - two - shopping - some - ago - went

=> She went shopping and bought some groceries two days ago.

d. was - morning - when - she - saw - this - i - reading - her.

=> She was reading when I saw her this morning.

e. alexander bell - was - by - telephone - 1876 - invented - in - the

=> The telephone was invented by Alexander Bell in 1876.

PEMBAHASAN:

Perhatikan beberapa tips berikut agar kamu dapat dengan mudah menyusun kata acak menjadi kalimat yang bermakna:

• Pertama cari subjeknya ( siapa yang melakukannya )
• Kedua masukan kata kerja ( Verb )
• Ketiga masukan objeknya
• Kemudian tambahkan keterangan

Perhatikan!

a. to - usually - i - walk - car - go - sometimes - work by - i - but

=> I usually walk to work but sometimes I go by car

OR

=>  I usually go to work by car but sometimes I walk.

=> Kalimat pada soal a menggunakan pola kalimat simple present tense. Simple present tense digunakan untuk menyatakan fakta /kebenaran umum (general truth), kebiasaan (habitual action), atau kejadian yang terjadi pada saat ini (present). Simple present tense paling sering digunakan dalam bahasa Inggris karena digunakan untuk menyatakan kegiatan sehari-hari.

Rumus:  

Verbal sentences: kalimat yang predikatnya adalah kata kerja  

• (+) Subject + Verb 1 (s/es)  
• (-) Subject + do/does + not + Verb 1  
• (?) Do/does + Subject + Verb 1?

b. are - garden - children - now - the - in - football - the - playing

=> The children are playing football in the garden now

=> Kalimat pada soal b menggunakan pola kalimat present continuous tense. Present continuous tense digunakan untuk membicarakan aksi yang sedang berlangsung sekarang atau rencana dimasa depan.  Present continuous tense dibentuk dengan auxiliary verb “be”, berupa is/am/are – karena present tense (waktu sekarang), dan present participle (-ing).  Is digunakan pada subject berupa singular noun (seperti: Tita, book) dan third person singular pronoun (seperti: she, he, it); are pada plural noun (seperti: boys, men, books), plural pronoun (seperti: we, they) dan you; sementara am pada I.

Rumus:  

• (+) S + am/is/are + present participle (-ing)
• (-) S + am/is/are + not + present participle (-ing)  
• (?) am/is/are + S + present participle (-ing)?  

c. she - and - groceries - days - bought - two - shopping - some - ago - went

=> She went shopping and bought some groceries two days ago.

=> Kalimat pada soal c menggunakan pola kalimat simple past tense. Simple past tense digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu kejadian di waktu tertentu di masa lampau.

Rumus:

• (+)  Subject + Verb 2
• (-)   Subject + did + not + Verb 1  
• (?)  Did + Subject + Verb 1?

d. was - morning - when - she - saw - this - i - reading - her.

=> She was reading when I saw her this morning.

=> Kalimat pada soal d menggunakan pola kalimat past continuous tense. Past continuous tense digunakan untuk menyatakan bahwa suatu aksi sedang berlangsung selama waktu tertentu pada waktu lampau (past). Bentuk ini menunjukkan bahwa aksi tersebut terjadi sebelum (began before), selama (was in progress during), dan mungkin berlanjut setelah (continued after) waktu atau aksi lainnya yang terjadi pada masa lampau.

Rumus:

(+) S + was/were + present participle (-ing)

(-) S + was/were + not + present participle (-ing)

(?) was/were + S + present participle (-ing)

e. alexander bell - was - by - telephone - 1876 - invented - in - the

=> The telephone was invented by Alexander Bell in 1876.

=> Kalimat pada soal e menggunakan pola kalimat simple past tense bentuk passive.

Rumus: Subject + was/were + Past participle (Verb 3)
