Orientation - The Beginning

Just before the whole country did Nasional Exams, a new virus called Covid - 19 appeared in Indonesia. This virus was dangerous. So, in order to avoid more people catching the virus, the country decided to lockdown itself, quarantine. Our school decided to hold individual exams to replace the Nasional Exams. Similar to PAS (Penilaian Akhir Semester). I only had 1 week to prepare for our school exam. And luckily, I got good scores! Enough scores to go into my favourite High School.

Events - My Experience

Soon enough, School's in Indonesia got creative. Holding lectures and assignments online. To avoid "Tatap Muka". Learning in my house, rather than learning at school, was somehow better for me. I got to explore way more subjects and materials on my own! But the only negative side was that I can't really make new friends efficiently. Usually, when it's the first day of school, everyone got to introduce themselves to other classmates. But now it's different. We have to chat and talk online. Using a communication software called Zoom or Google Meet. Out teachers share the materials online using WhatsApp. There, we can communicate, and share things easily. Doing things online seems really hard at first, but later on we get used to it. Thanks to learning from home, my typing skills are a lot faster and better. I got new friends in High School, and got to meet amazing teachers, and talk to them in Zoom! Fast forward, The final exams was coming closer. Just 7 weeks from now, and I'm going to be in 11th Grade. I started to independently learn from my own, taking notes from learning websites, YouTube, and Instagram! I use social media to learn interesting subjects and explore new knowledge.

Re - Orientation: Summary

Learning from home definitely has it negatives. But thanks to it, I get to be more independent than ever before! Plus, I've gained a new appreciation for teachers. They've work so hard to learn and share their knowledge to us. Even in these hard times. They find opportunities and try new software, just to share and teach their knowledge to us students! They meticulously prepare how'll they share the materials to us. Because of quarantine, I get to spend more time with my parents at home. Because of quarantine, I get to be a more independent person. And most important of all, not giving up in the hardest situations is what I've learned most. I'm happy, that I have the privilege of owning and using modern communication devices, to learn new things, and meet new friends in WhatsApp. Every cloud has a silver lining,  but no matter what, never give up. Even in the hardest situation, is what I've learned from this Home Learning.
