Part C. Write a short text using present simple and present continuous.

My family and I visit our grandmother's house every month. We always help her to do the house chores and check her condition. We are visiting her now and everyone is doing their job. My mother and I are cleaning the house, my sister is helping grandmother to cook, my father is fixing the broken lamp. After finishing our job, we always have a dinner together.

Simple Present Tense

Simple present tense merupakan bentuk kalimat yang digunakan untuk menyatakan kegiatan rutin dan juga kejadian yang telah terbukti kebenarannya, seperti matahari terbit di timur.

Struktur Kalimat

• (+) S + V1 (+s/ es) + O
• (-) S + do/ does + not + V1 + O
• (?) Do/ does + S + V1 + O + ?

Contoh Kalimat

• (+) She drinks a glass of milk every morning.
• (-) She does not/ doesn't drink a glass of milk every morning.
• (?) Does she drink a glass of milk every morning?

Present Continuous Tense

Present continuous tense digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian yang sedang terjadi pada masa kini, dimana kejadian tersebut masih dalam proses pengerjaan.

Struktur Kalimat

• (+) S + to be (am/ is/ are) + V-ing + O
• (-) S + to be (am/ is/ are) + not + V-ing + O
• (?) to be (am/ is/ are) + S + V-ing + O + ?

Contoh Kalimat

• (+) Andy is reading a novel
• (-) Andy is not/ isn't reading a novel
• (?) Is Andy reading a novel?
