Hotel Majapahit is a historic luxury hotel on Jalan Tunjungan, Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. Formerly named LMS, then Hotel Oranje and then Hotel Yamato and also Hotel Hoteru. One of the moments of struggle at this hotel occurred on September 19, 1945, namely the flag incident. The incident began when a group of Dutch people led by Mr. Ploegman raised the Red and White Blue flag on the top right of the hotel. The Indonesian fighters tore the blue color of the Dutch flag, which was red, white and blue, so that the flag became red and white, namely the flag of the Republic of Indonesia. The flag incident also resulted in the killing of Mr. Ploegman.
