Malin KundangLong time a go, an old women , Mande Rubiah ,lived in a village near Muara Padang beach. She
has a son, called Malin Kundang . The old women loved her son very much. When he was fifteen years
old, he worked as a porter at Muara . One day a skipper asked him to work on his ship . Malin
accepted the offer .He sailed to Padang. Malin worker hard on the ship so the skipper liked him.
A year later, the skipper fell ill, he called Malin and his daughter Nilam Sari. The skippersaid,"
you must become husband and wife. I'll give all my wealth to you, Malin .He died and Malin married
Nilam Sari. He become vain and greedy. He forgot his mother and his village.
Ten years later, a beautiful ship came to Muara. It was Malin's ship. Mande Rubiah was at muara
and she was sure that the owner of the ship was his son. She shouted, "My son ! Malin I Malin !"
she tried to embrace him, but he was angry." Who are you poor women ?
You are dirty ! Stay away from me " I'm your mother, Malin . You owner mother". Said Mande Rubiah.
He knew that it was his mother but he was ashamed to confess it" Insane women. Go away. The
women knell down and cried. She prayed "God, show him your power. My son is sinful " Suddenly the
storm hit Malin's ship and lightening stringed. And turned into a stone
