7. Who was convinced that they had seen a ghost? It was Mr. Nuttel, why? Well, in the story it was explained that Mr. Nuttel was once sent to a strangers house. After that, Mr. Nuttel developed cynophobia. Which is the fear of dogs. some people develop cynophobia after being frightened or bitten by a dog. Using this fact, we can hypothesise that in the middle of going to this so called 'Stranger's house', we can conclude that Mr. Nuttel was jump scared by the dogs, that guarded the stranger's house. Even though the story doesn't provide enough credible evidence.

8.  What is the moment in the story where the suspense is at its peak? It was at it's peak when Mrs. Sappleton was talking to Vera. She talked about Mr. Nuttel, In the story she said "Mr. Nuttel could only talk about his illnesses, and dashed off without a word of goodbye or apology when you arrived. One would think he had seen a ghost." It was at this moment that the atmosphere of the conversation changed.

Now, when Vera was talking with Mrs. Sappleton, she said that she expects that the stranger's house belonged to the Spaniel's. At the end of the story, it was revealed that Romance at short notice was her specialty. Now what does that have to do with the story? Well, if we reread, Mrs. Sappleton said that Mr. Nuttel would only talk about his illnesses, and dashed off without a word of goodbye or apology when people arrived. In psychology, this is called as the halo effect. The halo effect is a type of cognitive bias in which our overall impression of a person influences how we feel and think about their character. Mrs. Sappleton thought that Mr. Nuttle always rushed off because he had seen a ghost. In the contrary, he just had a crush with Mrs. Nuttle. Which is why at the end of the story, it was revealed that Romance at short notice was Vera's specialty.

10. The overall ambience, when the atmosphere was at it's peak is when Mrs. Sappleton was explaining about Mr. Nuttle and his 'story' to the niece. Which I would expect is her own niece. Called Vera.
