Why do the Character Education is Needed?The decline of youth's positive moral attitude nowadays makes people worry about it. The increase in delinquency, pregnancy, theft, violence and substance abuse continues to rise among adolescents. Surveys have shown top rates of cheating, lying, stealing, violence and bullying among adolescents and young adults. Adults clearly need to do a better job teaching and modelling high standards of behaviour in families, schools, and communities.
Character education is important in every aspect of a child’s life, including family, school and society. Children need consistent messages, and they need all the adults in their lives to have high standards and expectations for ethical behaviour. Character education can and should occur as a long-term, community-based endeavour involving schools, parents, social service agencies, law enforcement, houses of worship, businesses, youth organizations and others.
As students, teenagers should return their focus on learning, gaining knowledge and developing their interests, talents and skills with powerful moral characters so that they are ready to face the challenges of the times. Teachers also should educate, motivate, facilitate and become a model for students so that they are successful in learning, have a strong character and are ready to face the challenges of the times. Parents have an obligation as the first educators for their children in cultivating character. Parents must create a safe and comfortable family for their children so that they can carry out their obligations to learn, work, and have excellent character.
To form a strong character in children's balance with intelligence and skills, parents and teachers must work together so that it will become a fortress for the child’s personality in their future life.
