Another atmospheric wonder of the world is the rainbow. Rainbows are common: itrequires only the right combination of the sun and rain for one to appear, yet rainbows

have a special place in many of the world’s cultures.

A rainbow is the refraction of sunlight or raindrops. The larger the raindrops, the more

brilliant are the colors in the rainbow. Sometime, when a rainbow is particularly bright, a

paler, secondary bow with the colors reversed, can appear behind it. If someone watching

the rainbow moves, the light will be refracted through different raindrops. The sun, always

behind the watcher, will light up constantly changing raindrops as the watcher moves

forward, until there is no more rain left to refract and the rainbow fades.
