2. For five years Maria had been saving her money for a trip to Europe. Her brother, Jimmy, had a good job, but he spent all of his money on expensive cars, clothes, and entertainment. Suddenly, Jimmy was fired from work and had no money to support himself while he looked for another job. Maria lent him nearly all of her savings, and within three weeks Jimmy spent it all on his cars, more clothes, and expensive restaurants.
