Al             From the Latin word hospitalis, pretraining to guests and treatment of them, we acquired the word hospital. Hospitals were first built in Greece and named aesculapia after Aesculapius, god of medicine. In the olden days, the word not only meant places dedicated for healing, but also for the poor and weary traveler.             Today, hospitals provide medical monitoring for inpatient care, outpatient care, as well as for diagnosis and medical treatment of physical and mental health problems. They also perform surgery and assist rehabilitation. Some hospitals offer health education programs for nurses and doctors. Many outstanding hospitals serve as center for innovation research and medical technology.             Hospitals have specialized departments, such as radiology, anesthesiology, pathology, cardiology, and oncology.
