What is a zoo? Actually, it is a short form of zoological garden. It is an area for keeping many kinds of animals, both local animal and animal from other countries. Big mammals, reptiles, and many kinds of birds live in that place. Big mammals such as tiger, lion,

elephant, and giraffe are kept in large places. Big reptiles such as snake, komodo, and crocodile are also kept in large places. Many kinds of bird are kept in much kind of cages. They are arranged according to the blocks. There are many blocks, so the visitors can enjoy them easily in accordance to the kind's of animals.

Zoo has four main functions. It is used for giving entertainment to the people. They can enjoy many kinds of animals there. It is also useful for education, scientific research, and wildlife conservation. Because of this, the government gives a lot of funds to some zoos in Indonesia.

We have some famous zoos. We have Gembira Loka in Jogja and Taman Safari in Bogor, etc. They are run professionally so the animals live safely and happily.
