Contoh:

• The dancing girls / Gadis-gadis yang sedang menari
• The haunted house / Rumah berhantu

Participial adjective yang berakhiran -ingmempunyai artiprogressive (sedang terjadi) atau aktif (yang menyebabkan).

Contoh:

• The train that is moving → the moving train (kereta yang sedang bergerak)
• The man that annoys me → the annoying man / pria yang menyebalkan (membuat saya sebal)

Participial adjective yang berakhiran -edmempunyai artipasif.

Contoh:

• The door that is locked → the lockeddoor/ pintu yang terkunci
• The clothes that were ironed → the ironed clothes / pakaian yang sudah disetrika
