Stethoscope

A stethoscope is a medical instrument or instrument used to listen to the sounds of the heart, lungs, and stomach. Using a stethoscope to hear these sounds is called auscultation.

Steps to use a Stethoscope:

1. Choose a quiet place to use the stethoscope Use the stethoscope in a quiet place. Look for an area to make sure you can hear the patient's body sounds and are not distracted by the sounds or cacophony of the room.

2. Position the patient To hear heart and stomach sounds, place the patient on his back. To hear the sounds of the lungs. The sounds of the heart, lungs, and stomach may sound different depending on the position of the patient. For example sitting, standing, lying left or right.

3. Choose to use a diaphragm or bell The diaphragm or flat side of the stethoscope drum is better for listening to high-pitched sounds. A bell or concave side of a stethoscope drum is better for listening to low-pitched sounds.

4. Ask the patient to wear clothes or take off clothes so that the skin is not covered Use the stethoscope directly on the skin to avoid hearing the scuffs rustle from the fabric. If your patient is a man who has a lot of chest hair, press down on the stethoscope firmly enough to avoid hearing a rustling sound.
