her that he would have a competition to find the best
son-in-law. Do you know what the competition was?
All participants must stretch Garudayaksa bow and
lift Sekardelima gong. Those who could do the tasks
would be the princess' husband.
Well, the next day, the royal guard announced the public about the competition. It's no surprising
that
many young men, noblemen, and princes were interested in attending it. The king believed that his
daughter would find the best man.
Then, it's time for the competition. Each participant couldn't finish the tasks, even few of them were
injured. Suddenly, a young man named Lembusura appeared and asked for the king's permission to attend
the competition. When he introduced himself, everybody was shocked. The man's head was like a buffalo's!
Guess what happened then! The man could do the tasks, meaning that he would be the princess'
husband. All the participants gave him a big around of applause, but the princess was speechless. She didn't
think that she would marry a man whose head was like a buffalo's.
Um...actually the king was dissatisfied with the competition result, but he had to keep his promise. He
prepared a wedding party for his daughter. However, before the wedding day, her daughter had a request.
Lembusura had to make a well on Mount Kelud only for one night. Being sure about his power, Lembusura
agreed. Soon he climbed up Mount Kelud and dug a hole. To make it deeper, he plunged himself into the
well.
Along the night the princess couldn't sleep well. She was worried that Lembusura could finish his task.
When Lembusura almost finished making the well, she asked people to plunge soil into the well. Lembusura
couldn't get out of the well and he was buried.
Finally, Lembusura realized the princess' mischief. He made a curse that he would destroy the kingdom
as a revenge. Since then, people believe that the eruption of Mount Kelud shows Lembusura's anger.
