Dear Feclicity Jones
I am applying for the position of Video Production Assistant as advertised on Ethical Jobs on April 26th.
I come from a background in video production, having completed a Bachelor of Screen & Media at Swinburne University and volunteered at the community media organisation, SYN Media, for three years. Both placements have equipped me with considerable experience conceptualizing, producing and editing live and pre-recorded video content.
Throughout my time at SYN I have volunteered for their daily music television program, 1700, produced out of Channel 31. Here I gained a diverse range of behind-the-scenes experience, first as a crew member and later as a camera operator, floor manager, audio director and editor until I worked my way up to become a daily producer. As a daily producer for a live television program I am responsible for coordinating a large team of volunteers and guests which has forced me to become highly organised and flexible in order to respond to any challenges that arose during this time.
On such challenge has been Channel 31 losing its broadcast license. However, I have responded to this by improving my skills producing video content for online platforms. This has encouraged me to develop my skills in closed captioning and I now ensure all videos I produce include closed captioning so ti's as accessible as possible.
SYN Media is a not-for-profit organisation with social impact at its core. During the second half of 2016 I completed SYN's voluntary board internship where I was able to gain an insight into the governance structures underlying SYN's operation. This experience equipped me with a deeper knowledge of not-for-profit organisations and their social impact and has motivated me to pursue employment in this field.
My diverse range of experience has enabled me to adapt to any situation I am presented with. I am hard-working, flexible and compassionate. I believe these skills make me an outstanding candidate for this position.
I am interested in joining the Momentary team as I am passionate about the power of video to communicate and engage with audiences in order to pursue social change. I would value the opportunity to help develop and grow the momentary brand in order to tell their stories.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Jane Smith.
