2) Present Tense:

The boy said, "I have a new apartment."

The boy said that he had a new apartment.

She said, "She is a dancer."

She said (that) She was a dancer.

3) Past Tense:

My mother said, "You brother did his homework last night."

5) Modals:

6) Past Continuous Tense

Bentuk Past Continuous tense berubah menjadi Past Perfect Continuous ketika kita mengubah Direct speech-nya menjadi Reported / indirect speech. Kata kerja Helping dari Past continuous 'was' & 'were' akan berubah menjadi 'had been' dengan bentuk Participle (bentuk pertama) dari Verb dan ING.

Kita tidak menggunakan pergeseran waktu ke masa lampau (backshift) saat kata aslinya dalam bentuk direct speech nya menggunakan bentuk:

past perfect.

would.

should
